GREAT LIGHT

If you’re looking to brighten up the outside of your trailer or RV, this flush-mount LED utility light throws out a super bright 4,500 lumens while keeping a low-profile look. I like that it’s built with a black powder-coated aluminum housing, because that adds strength and rust resistance when it’s exposed to the elements. Since this version, the M396FR, runs on 120V AC power, it’s the one you’ll want if you’re wiring into shore power or a standard circuit, while the M336FR is the 12-volt version for battery systems. Either way, you’re getting reliable LED efficiency with no bulbs to replace and a sleek flush-mount design that blends right into the sidewall of your trailer.

When you’re trying to light up your campsite or the side of your trailer at night, the Exterior LED Utility Light delivers bright, focused lighting without drawing much power. I like that it flush-mounts cleanly, keeping a sleek look and staying out of the way. The black powder-coated aluminum body feels solid and built to resist rust, which is great when you’re out in the elements. Flipping it on with your standard 12-volt system gives you super-bright, clear light instantly no bulbs to replace, just reliable LED brightness. It’s perfect for anyone who wants a low-profile but dependable exterior light for their RV or trailer, though if you’re after adjustable angles or more of a flood-style beam, you might explore other options. This model, the M336FR, is built for a 12-volt DC system, which is what most RVs and trailers use. If you’re wiring into a 120-volt AC setup instead, you’d want the matching M396FR version. Both give you the same flush-mount style and bright LED output, but choosing the right part number depends on your power system

perfect for exterior lights for loading

by:

If you're looking to brighten up the outside of your trailer or workspace, this Exterior LED Utility Light from M-3 and Associates is a great pick. It runs on either 12 or 24 volt DC, and with the flush mount design, you get a clean, low-profile install that won’t stick out or get in the way. I like the wedge shape—it shines light outward and down, so it's great for lighting up loading zones, entry doors, or tool areas at night. The clear lens and bright white LEDs give you a solid, wide spread of light without eating up battery power. It is also made from powder-coated aluminum, so it holds up well outside without rusting out.

Installation is pretty straightforward for a DIYer. The hardwire setup uses two wires, and the light comes with adhesive backing to help hold it in place while you bolt it down. It does not come with hardware, so be sure to have your own screws ready. Once mounted, it feels secure and throws out plenty of light for nighttime tasks or general outdoor visibility. No bulbs to replace, no filaments to break, and way more efficient than old incandescent lights. If you're upgrading your trailer lighting, this LED utility light is a solid option that works well and installs easy.

If you are adding lighting to your trailer, RV, or campsite, this flush mount exterior LED utility light is a solid pick. It is made from powder-coated aluminum with a gray finish, so it holds up well in outdoor conditions and resists rust. The low-profile wedge shape gives you a clean look and shines light down and out, which is perfect for entry doors, tool zones, or outdoor work areas. The clear lens with bright white LEDs puts out plenty of light, and since it runs on either 12 or 24 volt DC, it works with a lot of trailer and RV setups. I like that the LEDs are maintenance-free—no bulbs to change, and they handle bumps and road use better than old incandescent lights.

Installation is straightforward for most DIYers. The flush-mount housing has adhesive strips to hold it in place while you line it up, and then you can use screws through the pre-drilled holes to secure it. Just a heads-up, hardware is not included, so you will need your own fasteners. It uses a two-wire setup, and the wiring length gives you some flexibility during install. Once it is in, it sits flush and puts out strong, even light without drawing much power. If you need a clean and efficient way to add exterior LED lighting to a trailer or camper, this model from M-3 and Associates checks all the boxes.

  • How To Wire the Exterior LED Utility Light Part M337FR
The Exterior LED Utility Light part # M337FR has three wires, one for power, one for ground, and one for neutral. I spoke with M-3 and they informed me that the light follows EU Wiring Specifications so the power should be brown, the neutral should be blue, and the ground should be green with a yellow stripe. There is also a 12 volt version as well, part # M357FR which also has three wires but only the power and ground would need to be attached.

  • Recommended Exterior Light For An Enclosed Trailer That Runs Off Of 110V
The only exterior light we currently carry compatible with 120v would be the Exterior LED Utility Light # M337FR. This light is a flush mount and would require you to cut a hole in the side of your enclosed trailer and would sit inside the walls/in the trailer itself depending on how thick your trailer's walls are. I've attached a video below where I installed the 12v DC version of this light which has the same installation, just connecting to a different power source. If you wanted...

  • How Does Exterior LED Utility Light # M337FR Wire
The wiring of the Exterior LED Utility Light # M337FR that you referenced is pretty basic. It has three wires, one for power, one for ground, and one for neutral. We have spoken with M-3 and they informed us that the light follows EU Wiring Specifications so the power should be brown, the neutral should be blue, and the ground should be green with a yellow stripe. The power source would need to be 110 AC power like what a house would have.

  • What Is The Difference Between M3 RV LED Exterior Lights M357FR, M336FR, M337FR, M396FR?
Exactly - # M357FR is the same low-profile LED utility light and cutout, just a corrosion-resistant silver powder-coat instead of black. If you want the black look, the # M336FR is the match in 12V. If you ever need house-current, look at the 120V silver # M337FR or black # M396FR. What is your application? If it's a trailer, it could use either one, but usually it's going to 12v like the rest of the lights on a trailer.

  • Will It Draw Too Many Amps If I Run 2 12V LED Lights On Porch Of Enclosed Trailer?
You’ll be fine on draw - LED utility lights pull modest current compared to incandescent. This particular 12v model # M357FR pulls only about 4 amps, so 2 of them would be 8 which is good for a circuit rated for 10a or more (most are rated for that). Just ensure your switch/wiring are in good shape and are wired for 12v, not 110. If it's 110 you'd instead need # M337FR which actually only pulls about .5 amps since it's running on higher voltage.

  • Can I Use M3 12V LED Exterior Light Instead Of 120V Light On Jayco North Point?
No, Ken, stick with the 12V models # M357FR silver or # M336FR black. A 120V fixture like # M396FR black or # M337FR silver won’t operate on a 12V circuit unless you had an inverter to change from DC to AC. Was there a reason you were wanting the 120v setup? If so, I can walk you through that process.

  • If Upgrading Exterior Utility Light On Trailer To LED, Is Install Any Different?
Nothing special, Ethan - just standard 120V switched power for the black housing # M396FR and silver housing # M337FR. Many users upgrading to LED utility fixtures comment on easier installs and cleaner light compared to old bulb housings. They also last much longer and tend to be brighter. If you later want 12V operation, swap to the # M357FR instead.

  • Is M3 120v LED Light M396FR And M337FR Bright Enough For Lighting Gravel Parking Area Of Barn?
Matt, you’ll love the # M396FR for that type of lighting - these fixtures draw praise for “very bright” output and clean, wide coverage. If you prefer a lighter trim, the silver # M337FR is the same 120V unit in different color. Do you currently have a light and you're just looking for an upgrade? If so, install will be a breeze since it's just 3 wires. I've attached a demonstration video to show you how the process is, along with how bright the light is at night.

  • Is M337FR LED Light The Same Footprint As M396FR ?
You can, same footprint/cutout of 11-5/8" wide x 8-3/4" tall. The silver LED light # M337FR and black LED ight # M396FR are completely the same aside from color. They both run off AC power (110v/115/120v) so make sure you are setup for that on your trailer or barn etc. What is this going in, Micky?

  • How To Check If Toyhauler's Exterior Utility LED Light Runs Off 12v DC Or 110V AC
You can parallel a pair on the same 120V switched circuit as long as the breaker and wiring are sized appropriately. It’s common to double up utility lights when you want evenly lit zones across a longer wall. Keep in mind, the # M337FR is for 110/120v. You can run those to the circuit panel without trouble, but your lights typically will be run off 12v from a fuse box or converter. I'd check by looking here: -Battery test: If it turns on with only the house battery connected (no shore/gen/inverter),...

  • LED 120v And Solar Powered Light Options For Lighting Up Entry Doorway Of Work Shed
Hey VanDad! These M-3 fixtures Black # M396FR and Silver # M337FR are simple on/off utility lights. If you want motion sensing or dusk-to-dawn behavior, grab a motion-sensor security light instead - those are separate products designed for that feature. If you want motion activated, I'd just go with the Solar Powered LED Porch Light for RVs - Dusk-to-Dawn and Motion Sensors - Weatherproof # DG0132. It's very bright, reliable, and you won't need to wire anything since it's solar powered...

  • How to pick between 12v or 120v LED exterior porch light for 2018 Keystone Passport
Lou, youll want to match the fixture to the feed in that wall: 12V branch means the # M357FR, 120V branch from the AC breaker panel means the # M396FR black or # M337FR silver. Don’t place a 12V light on a 120V line or vice-versa. Passport owners - did your porch area come wired 12V or 120V from the factory? If you didn't have wiring ran there and it's a full add-on light, you'll want to see if your lights run off your dc panel or a converter. That's most likely the case and you'll want...

  • Can M3 110V LED Utility Light Be Mounted Vertically On Food Truck ?
Yes Glen, vertical or horizontal mounting of the # M337FR is fine, just keep the gasket even and the housing seated flat. Is this going above the window or lower down? I can try to help with setting everything up. Also, do you have a 110v/120v setup on that? Or do you have a converter / battery setup to power the lights as DC power? This is just for 110/120 so keep that in mind.

The powder-coated aluminum housing on the Silver Exterior LED light # M337FR (and Black # M396FR) is built for exterior use, and you won't have to worry about wind and rain. Quick annual check of the sealant is always smart to make sure no moisture is getting in behind the light. I've attached a detailed installation video for you to check out. Are you adding this to a trailer or a barn or what?
